It may have just been a simple mosaic made up by many faces. But upon closer analysis, one will find the grim truth behind this collage. These photos that make up the mosaic in actuality belongs to those sacrificed in the Iraq war. An apt title for this picture might have been "The ironical tribute" - for what can be more ironical than a collage made up of photos of soldiers whom which have indirectly suffered due to the tribute's actions? This "tribute" has no doubt an outright sarcastic message. It claims that the war was not what the citizens of the United States wanted but rather, a decision made by an autocratic ruler like George Bush. It represents the resent of the political move with an agenda that does not take it's citizen's lifes in mind.

The US-led war against Iraq had caused a lot of innocent lives. And President George Bush claimed that his invasion of Iraq was to find"weapons that can cause mass destruction" . However UN had been scouring Iraq for months and had found no evidence of the existence of any. Thus US invasion of Iraq has a clear motive - that is gain control of Iraq's huge oil reserves.
And by doing so,
it enable them to establish military bases in Iraq from which to dominate the Middle East and eventually (by controlling oil supply), to establish control over all countries dependent on oil, and to remove the threat to Israel posed by Iraq. Most importantly, many people had lost their lives in this war. So by saying that Saddam Hussein was behind the September 11th attacks, he hopes to gain the support of the Americans so that they too can support the war. However, after investigation they failed to find any evidence of linkage between Saddam Hussein and the attacks of September 11th. Thus by invading Iraq, America had a very clear motive. I feel that America should not have declared a war with Iraq because having a war there bound to be bloodshed and resources like money and weapon are needed to put in. Thus, both sides do not gain any advantages after the war regardless of who won. Ulitmately, there's bound to be people sobbing for others, worse still , riots to protest against Iraq war.

In my opinion,i feel that the US is taking advantage of the Iraq situation. Like the photo, i agree that George Bush is taking Iraq as an adventure. Thus he is enjoying himself as the conqueror and enjoying the limelight of the media. Furthermore, it will strenghten the US and his position in the world. They would be looking up at him as he would posses mo0re respect from the people.THus i feel that his invasion of Iraq is very self-centered and is all about his glory and the oil ministry ot the Us. THus it is like killing two brirds with one stione.

War in Iraq

War in Iraq
Personally I feel that the War in Iraq is not justifiable. America being at the forefront of the War in Iraq stated its reason for the invasion to be due to fact that Iraq is developing weapons of mass destruction when after further investigation there has been none found so far. Hence this war was started mainly due to America’s insecurity in the face of terrorism.
Furthermore precious resources were wasted on these efforts which have not come to fruition as the threat of terrorism still exists. Where there is war there is bloodshed, terrorism is not worth the lives on the men and women who have been fighting in this war. Using war and invasion as an excuse by saying that it prevents attacks by terrorist is no better than the terrorists themselves who say they are fighting for their religion.
I believe that there is always a solution to a problem, but what we think is the best solution is often the worst action that is taken. The use of military force is not wrong but how and for what reason it is used for is what determines whether it is rightfully used or not.
“In peace the sons bury their fathers, but in war the fathers bury their sons.”- Croesus.

Opinion on Iraq war

The Iraq war that was fought between mainly the U.S, and Iraq was a very bloody war. The main rationale of the war was to remove a regime that developed and used weapons of mass destruction that harbored and supported terrorists, committed outrageous human rights abuses, and defied the just demands of the United Nations and the world. I do not really support the invasion of Iraq. U.S President Geogre Bush mentioned that Iraq was filled with weapons of mass destruction, however after the invasion , there was nothing found there. It has caused many deaths of U.S soldiers as well as people of Iraq, both innocent and militants. Furthermore, it has also wasted half a trillion dollars on the war in Iraq, which could be better used for other stuff such as developing the countries, etc. Although Saddam Hussein was taken down from the throne, I feel that there could be another way, of less bloodshed and destruction to remove him. For example, we could implement economic sanctions against him or boycott him. War, in my opinion, is never a good thing and I feel that it is never justifiable. Besides, I believe that the main aim for the invasion is that Iraq was rich in oil reserves. This is because there was a case of Indonesian government oppressing the West Papuans but the west did not do anything about it, which I believe is because west Papuan was not rich in resources. Thus, I feel that they had an ulterior motive for invading Iraq and I do not support it.

Is winning important in sports?

Would sportsmen want to lose after putting in so much effort? The answer is no. But ultimately, whether winning is important in sports is much dependent on how one views it. You may lose the competition but one the other perspective you may end up “winning” after putting up a beautiful battle with your opponent exceeding your capabilities.

Being able to win in sports, sportsmen are motivated thus achieving higher level of success. Ultimately, sportsmen join competition for one purpose and that is to win. No one would want to enter a competition to lose. Not just that, winning an international competition would bring glory and fame to the sportsmen and to their country as well. In this case sportsmen are internationally recognized. This will further enhance their careers as sportsmen. Furthermore, winning helps to boast one’s self esteem. Thus with higher self esteem, they will have more confidence in themselves.

However viewing this matter in other perspective, winning is not ultimately everything. In each and every competition, there will be only one winner. And sometimes you may just happen lose by few points. Even if they happen to lose, they will be able to gain experience and motivate themselves to improve. If one keeps winning, he will be arrogant and his standard will be stagnant. To be strong sportsmen, one should be able to handle wins and loses. Ultimately, one would not keep winning. And through the defeats, one should learn from his mistakes and keep improving so that next competition he can perform well. Performing at the fullest potential and giving our best and more make us winners.

In conclusion, sportsmen should aim to win but in the end whether they end up wining or not winning is not necessarily very important in sports

Winning important in sports?

Whether or not winning is important is dependent on the individual or group engaging in that particular sport. For example, a win is everything to a professional athlete whereas to an amateur or sports enthusiast it is merely a negligible perk of enjoying that sport.

However, even as the importance of winning a sport to an individual is a variable, the process of winning and the ability to do so is vital in sports. Sports is competitive in essence, without differentiating the winning and losing party, one would not be engaging in any sport. One would be engaging in an activity with a goal other than to win. Even in a participation of a recreational sporting event, if either party does not aim to win, the event would go no where. Sports is all about differentiating the parties physical prowess. If this is not so, it would be called a game instead of sports. The world of professional sports is also sometimes muddled with politics and business in form of advertisements or political statements. As such, it becomes very much like the not so pretty commercial and political world - a dog eat dog society. For example, the Olympics was created in the 1980s mainly to help solve financial problems as opposed to creating an avenue for professional athletes to showcase their skills. Therefore, with so much commercial and political tie-ins in the world of professional sports, a win becomes extremely important. A win could result in something as desirable as world wide recognition and honor, as with the case of Cathy Freeman. Conversely, a loss could result in repercussions as devastating as losing one's job. Thus, the impact of a win in the case of professional sports is cosmic and important.

Is winning in sports important?

I would agree that winning in sports is important. For most of us, it is all just a game, but when we are representing or competing in sports competitions, we should at the least take up the responsibility and do our best. Furthermore, winning in sports is a very good way establish a good character of one self ;would help boost a person's confidence in his life. Finally, winning in sports would provide one self with many opportunities to built on his career in sports. In conclusion, i feel that winning in sports is important especially if you are a professional. but if you are an amateur, i would say that winning is not so important as you are taking up the sport at own your leisure and should not pressure yourself if not you would accumulate more stress.

Winning in sports is important as it is all about responsibility. If you are sponsoring a group of players in competition, you would definitely want your team to win right? In the same way, when we are representing an organisation, country or even anything, we should not be so self-centered and at least give something back to the people who sponsored you.Other than them, there are trainers and coaches whose reputation also depends on our results, thus we should not only win for our own sake, but for the people who has been helping you out.To add on , when you win in sports in bring great joy and hope to people thus winning is important as we should be responsible enough to give something back to them at that is through winning sports events.

Winning in sports also helps to built up your character. When you win in something, you would feel good about it and start to gain more confidence in yourself and you would believe in your capabilities and one self. Therefore you would appear to be a more confident person as you have at least achieve something no matter how small. Winning in sports can be made into a hunger or desire and will this sportsmen on. This sportsmen would be even more determined and more focus to win. They would then be able to take all the hardship and be more strong-willed people thus developing the person's character more.

The last reason is that winning in sports would allow many opportunities to develop your career as a sportsman. If you start winning in sports, you would soon be able to play competitively and if you are good enough, you may even become a professional. This process only happens if you start winning in sports, thus your Career opportunities would be limitless, and you may even become an icon in the sport and bring you the wealth and fame. Thus winning is important.

In conclusion, winning in sports help you to develop in character, create carer prospects and is your responsibility(if you are playing as a professional) thus it is important. However winning must come hand in hand with integrity, like one of the most famous football coach-Zdenk Zeman- says:'there is no shame being last. Better last than without integrity".

Is winning important in sports?

Personally, I think that winning is not very important in sports and it should not be of the top priority.
First of all, I think that fairness and good ethical character should be emphasized more in sports games. Nobody likes to be cheated and be called names. Foul play and breaking of rules should not be tolerated. Some athletes, for example the NBA players, have resorted to taking steroids so that they can win the game. Fortunately, the tests were strict enough and they were banned from playing. What is the purpose of winning if you have actually cheated everyone including yourself to win? The true meaning of sports would be undermined by foul play, thus I feel that to really enjoy the sport and make everyone a winner, fairness and good ethical character should be emphasized in sports games.
Moreover, the idea of winning actually depends on your own perspective of the word. For example, lets say that you were playing a soccer match against another team. You and yr team played the best you could and all of you felt that you played the best game of your lives. However, your team has lost. You could choose to see that since everyone has performed brilliantly so you all can be considered winners, or you could just look at the final score of the match and determine that your teams are the losers. It is all about how you look at it.
The final outcome is not important. I remember there was a quote by Arthur Robert Ashe, Jr. saying that ‘Success is a journey not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome. Not everyone can be Number 1’. The process is more important and therefore, if you have placed in effort and tried your best you are already a winner.
Furthermore, building valuable friendship and teamwork through playing the sport should be of foremost significance too. For example, the world cup has pulled people of different countries together to play against each other. The players work together as a team to strive to win.
Next, another example would that the US and the world embrace the athletes of NBA who had earlier been described as ’’too black’’ to succeed. This shows that sports is not all about winning but has more essential values such as improving relations among different races and countries.
In conclusion, striving your best to win should be your objective but it should not undermine your principles and rules of the game. There are more important things like having fun and making close friends.Winning is important but not as important as playing fair and abiding the rules. As long as you put in the best effort, the final outcome is not important.

Sports

Winning is not the most important thing in sports and there are a few reasons why I feel it should be so.
Playing a sport should be about enjoying the game and about winning it. If we allow our focus to shift, and pursue the win all the time, as time passes the wins and losses that we have been so caught up with have caused us to forget just the pure enjoyment of playing the sport. This should be one of the most important things we should keep in mind.
When playing a sport, the spirit of sportsmanship should also be of utmost importance. A man can pride himself in his win but if that win was achieved through underhand means there is no basis for that pride. The satisfaction of winning through ill gotten means can never be compared to that of winning knowing that you have tried your best. Just to quote a phrase from a song, “to look beyond the glory is the hardest part, for hero’s strength is measured by his heart.” A win is not a win unless tried your best to achieve that win.
The willingness to learn from our failures is also another key factor is sports that we should not overlook. Only in failure can we progress further and reach greater heights. A failure is just as important as victory. Failure can motivate us to push ourselves to go the extra mile drives us towards our goals, while victory is only the result of our hard work. While we rejoice in victory, we should not detest failure as it shows us the path towards victory.
A quote from Albert Schweitzer, “Success is not the key to happiness; happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful”,
